my story
I’m Beto Salinas—a civil engineer by profession, but a lifelong sports lover at heart. Growing up, all my birthday parties were at soccer fields or parks where we could run, play, and compete. Sports have always been part of who I am.
From kindergarten through college, I played just about everything—soccer, basketball, baseball, cross country, and even football as a university kicker. These days, I still play soccer in a local league and practice Jiu-Jitsu. Sports continue to teach me discipline, resilience, and joy.
What inspired me to start writing? The incredible stories behind the athletes I admire. I’ve always looked up to legends like Michael Jordan and Tom Brady, but especially Cristiano Ronaldo—not because of natural talent, but because of his unmatched work ethic and determination. I believe stories like his are worth telling, especially to young readers.
Through my books, I want kids and parents to discover that every champion faced challenges. Every hero failed before they succeeded. And it was their hunger to win—not just their talent—that made them great.
This is my passion project. I may work as a civil engineer, but writing these stories fuels me. I even test out the stories on my kids, Nico and Ellie, before they make it into the final book. If they get inspired, I know I’m on the right track.
My goal is to keep writing—for both kids and adults—about the athletes who didn’t just rise to the top, but worked hard to stay there. Their journeys deserve to be told. And I hope they light a spark in every reader who picks up one of my books.
